Ashley
Montagu Award
The Ashley Montagu
Award has been created by a great Quebec Artist : PIREZ
This piece of art is
made of massive Bronze and amalgamated glass, materials carefully
selected for their quality and finesse, to the image of Ashley
Montagu's achievement.
Its grasp is ergonomic
and very soft. Its design fits perfectly the palm of the hand
which exemplifies Ashley Montagu's vision to care for the needs
of humanity.
The amalgamated glass
section, on which we can see finger prints, represents the effect
of touch and the traces that it leaves on the receiver as much
as on the giver.
The name of Ashley
Montagu is embedded in the amalgamated glass as it is forever
engraved in the history of humanity.
The Ashley Montagu
Award will be given every two year to a world personality to highlight
excellence and exceptional devotion to the advancement of touch
in the world.

«
It is an extreme honour for the first Ashley Montagu award to be
given to me and I am touched both personally and professionally
to be given an award with Ashley’s name on it. Ashley was
a friend of mine and he inspired a lot of my work and his book ‘Touching’
was an inspiration to the work being done at the Touch Research
Institute. »
